About Us!
Welcome to the Maynardville Public Library!
The Maynardville Public Library serves the citizens of Union County. It is the library's mission to bring people, information, and ideas together to enhance their lives and build community. We support all people in their enjoyment of reading and pursuit of lifelong learning while providing equal access information to ideas and knowledge through books, computers and internet service, programs, a media center and other resources. We are the keepers of private collections and historical volumes. We hold strong to the belief in freedom to read, learn, imagine, discover and create. This is our mission.

Our History
In 1949 the Union County court appropriated library funds, a library board was elected, and the Clinch-Powell Regional Library started to supply books to the library. Since that time, the Maynardville Public Library has become a member of the Clinch Powell Regional Libraries. The region was renamed in 2012, and is now Clinch River Regional Libraries.
The Maynardville Public Library was first housed in a room across from the barbershop below Bailey’s Dept Store & Wise’s Drugstore. In 1976, the current building was dedicated, and was built with the help of a Federal grant money the library moved to the Union County Community Center with 1561 sqft. In January 2013 the library expanded to over 3000 sqft. by renovation of the Union County Community Center.
